Unit #1 was west on I 277 W in lane #2. Unit #2, the hit skip vehicle, was west on I 277 W in lane #3. Unit #2 attempted to change lanes and struck the rear right of unit #1. This caused unit #1 to go to the left, strike the concrete median and then go airborne, rolling three times. Unit #1 came to rest in lane #1. The driver of unit #2 fled the scene. According to witnesses, unit #2 had been driving recklessly prior to striking unit #1.
