How to calculate the cost of water used to fill a swimming pool

First, calculate the number of gallons to fill the pool. To do this, determine the length, width, average depth and multiplier.
Length x Width x Average Depth x Multiplier = Gallons.

To determine the Multiplier
Rectangle, Square, or Free-form pools: Multiplier = 7.5
Round or Oval pools: Multiplier = 5.9

To determine the Average Depth of a pool where the bottom slopes, measure the shallow end and the deep end, then add the two numbers together and divide by 2.

EXAMPLE:

Shallow End = 2 feet, Deep End = 10 feet
2' + 10' = 12'
12' / 2 = 6 foot avg depth.
